Game Far Cry 3

For anyone who loved the previous games in the franchise the most exciting announcement of last month's E3 was Far Cry 3. The reveal was amazing, we're back in the jungle, we're fighting some sort of crazy guy and we get an array of fun weapons in a vast landscape. But what I am looking forward most to is an editor, in my humble opinion no other game's editor allowed for more creativity, but will number 3 have an editor?

So far reports have been saying Far Cry 3 will be bigger than the others and of course it will run faster on pc than it will on console. It make me nervous to hear that FC3 is a huge departure from the rest of the franchise but they never say how it differs. The E3 hands on reports talk about some sort of point based system, 10 points for stabbing a baddie for example, but what those points are for? And what's the story, is Jack back and is there an editor?!? There's plenty of chatter of course on the official forums, mostly however people are making requests for their dream editor, but there's no meat. So basically the creative component that made the Far Cry franchise as kick ass as it is again takes the back seat to graphics.

Personally I would like to see something closer to Predator's editor and not FC2. I know that 2 had more options and more flash, rotating pieces for example, but I think the limitations of the earlier versions really forced mapmakers to be more creative. I think having to work with limited options and limited variety makes maps more interesting. I found the huge editor in 2 overwhelming.

I would look at all of the options, the landscapes, the pieces and I just didn't know where to start! I found myself making very small maps, I've always liked tight quarters chaos! And the other problem I had with 2 was the budget, you could only use so many building pieces, spawns, etc.. It was honestly a little confusing and I just couldn't get into the editor. I guess what I hope for is a less powerful editor, as strange as it seems. But as it stands I doubt there will be any editor talk until much closer to Far Cry 3's March 2012 release.
